Frequently Asked Questions
What level are your classes?
My pre-recorded and live classes are all either a Level 1/2 or a Level 2 class. I have a Beginner's Program for a Level 1 student.
Level 1/2: This is a mixed level class! This is perfect for the Yogi who is ready to take their foundations to the next level. These classes are moving swiftly and creatively, while still incorporating foundational cues and direction.
Level 2: This is for the "intermediate" Yogi. This is perfect for anyone who has a solid foundation in their asana practice. These classes are moving towards more advanced poses with not as much detail in the foundations (unless it is necessary for the peak pose). I am assuming you have a grasp of poses such as warrior II, warrior I, triangle, extended side angle, half-moon, etc.
Do I need anything for class?
You don't "need" anything for class besides your physical body and an open mind. However, I do suggest having a mat - see my recommended products for mats I like, and a set of blocks - also see my recommended products (I will send this to you). A yoga strap and blanket are great as well, but there are many things you can use in lieu of these props. For many of us, the usage of props are necessary to get into correct alignment, so while they are not mandatory, I definitely recommend them.

When will I know if I am ready to go up a level?
You are the only one who can truly answer that question. It is all about breath control. If you feel steady and stable in the level you are currently in, you are able to control the breath, and you are looking for more challenge, then perhaps it is time to try the next level. You can always take modifications when necessary.
I have an injury, is it safe for me to do Yoga?
You should always speak to your healthcare professional before beginning any new practice or activity, but there are plenty of variations and modifications for the asana poses. If you have an injury and you are unsure how to modify or you want specific and personal instruction, you can always reach out and ask or work with me privately. All of my classes are focused on alignment so that you can move safely and with awareness, whether you are in complete good health or are dealing with an injury.
I am sore after practicing. Is this normal?
YES! Especially if you are just starting a Yoga practice, it is completely normal to feel sore afterwards. You are probably moving your body in ways you are not used to and that can definitely manifest physically following your practice. Be sure to drink water before and after to enhance the recovery process.
I am not flexible. Can I still practice?
YES! You can 100% practice Yoga if you are not flexible. While flexibility is a component of your Yoga practice, it is not the only one. The Yoga practice is meant to foster stability, mobility, strength, and endurance along with flexibility - and those are only the physical components! The physical practice of yoga poses (asana) is really only a small portion of Yoga as a whole. The ultimate goal of Yoga is self-realization and there are many layers to work through before that happens. We must understand the external body before we can embark on the internal body, so do not hold yourself back if you feel there is somewhere where you are lacking physically - you already have everything you need to practice Yoga, you just need to trust yourself.
